Cork is precious, renewable, sustainable and 100% natural resource.
It is harvested from the bark of Cork Oak. The first extraction takes about 25-31 years. After that it naturally splits every 9-15 years without harming the tree. This operation allows it to survive and prosper in a worldwide unique ecosystem. In Portugal there are more than 720'000 hectares of cork forests.
Cork is very light, durable, waterproof, recycable, elastic and a good thermal and acoustic insulator.
